Ordo Rachelis

A two movement setting of the Medieval liturgical play Ordo Rachelis for SATB chorus and piano. The work was commissioned by David Matthews for the USF Chamber Singers, James Bass conductor, for the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 attack. The Latin text is a 9th century liturgical play describing Rachel weeping over her children which is a reference to the Holy Innocents slaughtered by Herod in Bethlehem.
