Here is a better video of my new setting of the Hopkins poem, “Heaven-Haven: a nun takes the veil”.  I am happy to report that this piece will receive its European premiere at the national conference of the Association of British Choral Directors national convention in Oxford in about 6 months.  The good folks over at the video place have kindly attributed my work to Thomas Morely which is kind of fun since Morely was so good at attributing other people’s work to himself.  My favorite bit is the brass player who is sipping his coffee through the performance.

I have desired to go
Where springs not fail,
To fields where flies no sharp and sided hail
And a few lilies blow.

And I have asked to be
Where no storms come,
Where the green swell is in the havens dumb,
And out of the swing of the sea.
