I believe this is what the kids today are calling a “mashup”. A few years ago, I was taking a counterpoint class, and I wanted to do some an intense study of a specific Bach fugue. In this case, I was looking at the G major fugue from BWV541. I realized that a good way to get inside of it would be to rewrite it. I realized that I could transform it into a gigue fugue using the NPR theme song. I play it about once a year as a postlude at church. This Sunday is once a year. Of course, I can’t play it and record myself and show you the score, so I made this video of Finale playing it with brass instruments. Enjoy!
